Indian Oil Sports Scholarship

India as a country has been termed as one of those countries which is developing at a great rate and which has the potential to become one of the most superior amongst others. The truth of this is yet to be seen but one thing is for sure, Indians are making a mark or gaining good reputation throughout the world for their skills. Not only in the section of studies, Indians have also made a mark in the sports world. Some of these may be seen with the Indian cricket team winning the latest One Day International World Cup and Sachin Tendulkar scoring a fantastic 100 tons. And not only in cricket but sports personalities such as those of Vijender Singh, Sushil Kumar, Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Saina Nehwal, Deepika Kumari, Vijay kumar and P. Kashyap are currently maing the country proud at the Olympics. So, a need to encourage such players has arisen which is catered to by the Indian Oil Corporation.

What is this scholarship

                The Indian Oil Corporation wishes to encourage all such sports personalities who are trying and making a mark for their state and themselves in national level.  This scholarship is provided for a period of 3 years to upcoming sports enthusiasts who have made a mark for themselves and their state in a national level competition in their field. The scholarships are for young players and sportsman who are in the age group of 14-19 years. The scholarship aims to boost their confidence and make them motivated to achieve better things and go up in their field to make a mark in international level. The scholarship is given to promising young players with a view to encourage talent and create a pool of sportspersons from whom to select sports appointees to the Corporation.

Who can apply

• Applicant should be a citizen of India and a domicile of the state which he or she is representing
• Applicant should be in the age group of 14-19 years
• Applicants under the following categories are eligible to participate for the scholarship.

Elite Scholar:- Team Games - Representing the country. Individual Games - National ranking between 1 to 5 in Juniors or Sub-Juniors category or semi-finalist / Finalists of national championships.

Scholar:- Team Games - Representing the state team.

Individual Games: National ranking between 6 to 15 in Juniors or Sub-Juniors category or quarter-finalist of national championships

3. 3.BILLIARDS & SNOOKER
4. 4.CHESS
5. 5.CRICKET
6. 6. GOLF
7. 7.HOCKEY
8. 8.TABLE TENNIS
9. 9.TENNIS
10. 10.OTHER GAMES

In 'Other Games' category includes the games Basketball, Volleyball, Archery, Boxing, Carrom, Gymnastics, Kabaddi, Shooting, Swimming, Wrestling and any other game (with international medal prospects)

How much

                The amount of scholarship is fixed by the Corporation on the basis of the achievements of the sportsperson and is increased or decreased in subsequent years on the basis of their performance in each year.

How long

                The scholarship is provided for 3 years. However, the sportsperson has to provide details of his/her achievements on a yearly basis on which the continuation of scholarship is dependent.  It is required by the sportsperson to send the achievements or the details of the event he/she participated to the corporation through their state association or proper authorities certification.

How to apply

                Application forms are available in the link given below. One has to fill up the application form and submit it to the Corporation along with the necessary photocopies of relevant press copies of events participated  and their certificates which should be duly attested by State Association or by Principal of the school or college in which he/she is studying. The last date to apply for the scholarship is set as 30^th September  It is also mandatory that applicants are above the age of 14 years and below the age of 19 years on 30^th September.
